A family in Khilgaon Garden had a Honda City where the AC compressor was cycling on and off rapidly — engaging for 5 to 10 seconds and then disengaging, then re-engaging. This rapid cycling is called AC compressor short cycling and is typically caused by the system pressure being at the boundary of the high or low pressure switch limits. Our technician assessed the Honda City's AC system — the refrigerant pressure was at the lower boundary where the low-pressure switch was triggering at the bottom of each cycling pressure drop. The refrigerant level was just below specification — enough for the system to initially pressurize above the low-pressure cutoff but then drop into the cutoff range as the compressor ran. A leak test identified a small condenser fin perforation. The condenser fin was sealed with appropriate compound, the system was pressure tested and refrigerant was topped up to correct specification. The compressor cycling normalized to the correct pattern.
