Mr. Hossain near Kafrul market had a Toyota Premio whose car AC had stopped cooling completely — the fan was blowing but the air was not cold. He had been told by a roadside mechanic that the compressor had seized. When our car AC technician assessed the Premio at his Kafrul building, the compressor clutch was tested first — the clutch was not engaging, preventing the compressor from operating. Compressor clutch non-engagement is caused by either electrical fault, low refrigerant pressure triggering the low-pressure cut-off, or a failed clutch coil — not necessarily a seized compressor. Electrical testing confirmed the clutch coil had failed — the coil that magnetizes the clutch to engage the compressor had an open circuit. The clutch coil was replaced and the compressor engaged correctly. Refrigerant pressure was then tested — within specification. The car AC cooled normally after the clutch coil replacement.
